Men's Tennis Drops Non-Conference Contest to Colonels

MILTON, Mass. – The Lesley University men's tennis fell to non-conference Curry College, 9-0, Wednesday afternoon. With the win the Colonels move to 2-4 on the season while the Lynx fall to 0-2.

Curry started the match with a clean sweep of doubles and then continued their strong play and won all six singles matches.

The number one tandem of Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.) and Sullivan defeated the pair of Niko Marcolini (Newbury, Mass.) and Patrick Corcoran (West Hartford, Conn.), 8-4.  The number two duo of Stento and Hefler bested the Lynx team of Beowolf Urban (Blue Hills, Maine) and Evan Flaherty (Plymouth, Mass), 8-1. The number three Curry doubles partners, Muller and Pitts outlasted Peter Weiss (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Evan McDermod (Portsmouth, N.H.), 8-6.

The Colonels number one singles player, Ryan Sullivan (Winnetka, Ill.) won his match 6-1, 6-4 against Marcolini. Curry's number two singles player Dawson Stento (Wellesley Hills, Mass.) defeated Flaherty, 6-1, 6-0. At number three singles, the Colonels' Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.) bested the Lynx's Urban, 6-3, 6-3. 

Zach Muller (Methuen, Mass.) earned the number four singles win for Curry, 6-1, 6-0 defeating Corcoran. The Colonels' Daniel Ritucci (Middleboro, Mass.) claimed his tilt verse Evan Zona (Hingham, Mass.), 6-1, 6-0 at the number five slot and at the number six position Samuel Pitts (Cohassett, Mass.) produced a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Lesley's Adam Valladares (Middleton, N.H.).

Curry will return to the courts on Thursday to resume their match against Roger Williams which was suspended due to rain. That match will continue at 4:00 p.m. at the Big Nine Tennis Courts. Lesley will next play against Albertus Magnus College on Saturday at Buckingham, Browne and Nichols at 2:00 p.m.
