Vasconcelos Returns as Men's Tennis Head Coach

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University Directors of Athletics Jen Benway has announced Paul Vasconcelos as the Head Coach of the Men's Tennis program. This will be Vasconcelos' second stint at the helm of the program after serving as head coach from 2008-2009 before spending 2010-2012 as an assistant coach of the program.

Vasconcelos' time with the program was largely successful as he helped lead the Lynx to their best record and only New England Collegiate Conference title in program history in 2011.

"I am very excited to be back with Lesley Men's tennis," said Vasconcelos. "I had a great experience with this program in the past and look forward to working with these young men."

"Paul is such a dedicated coach that loves to work with our student-athletes and we are really looking forward to him taking over this role once again," said Benway. "He's passionate about tennis and his energy will be infectious to the rest of the team – like it already is to the rest of the Lesley community. Paul is truly dedicated to ensuring that our student-athletes receive a valuable experience and we cannot wait to see what the season has in store for them."

Vasconcelos is no stranger to the coaching sidelines as he also serves as the Head Coach of the Lesley Women's Soccer team where he notched his 150th career victory this past fall. He has guided the Lynx to five NECC titles and is a six-time Conference Coach of the Year. Vasconcelos also spent eight seasons as the Head Coach of the Men's Soccer program here at Lesley where he brought home the program's only conference title in 2011.

The 2017 Men's Tennis schedule will kick off on Tuesday, March 21st when they travel to NECC foe Wheelock College.
