Wheelock Tops Men's Tennis in Season Finale

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University men's tennis team dropped their season finale against Wheelock College 6-3 this evening at Harvard's Beren Tennis Center. The Lynx end their 2016 campaign at 0-11 while the Wildcats bump to 5-8 on the season.

In top doubles action, Wheelock freshman Arvin Hedayaty (Tarzana, Calif.) and junior Matthew Brown (Angola, Ind.) earned an 8-1 decision over Lesley sophomore Niko Marcolini (Newbury, Mass.) and senior Jack Tortorici (Grass Valley, Calif.). Sophomore Jordan Bernard (Westbrook, Conn.) and junior Will Spofford (Kennebunk, Maine) followed with an 8-3 triumph over Lynx freshman Max Anthony (Cambridge, Mass.) and sophomore Khyle Park (Cambridge, Mass.) before Wheelock rookie ReAnn Rivera (Salem, N.H.) and junior Nicholas Fenton (East Hartford, Conn.) downed juniors Pierre St. Simon (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Devon Mayo (Newport News, Va.) 8-3 in third doubles.

Park picked up a victory for the Lynx over Spofford in number four singles 6-3, 6-2 while Marcolini and Tortorici each had their opponents retire due to injury at first and third singles.

Bernard blanked Anthony 6-0, 6-0 at second singles while junior Matthew Eason (East Hartford, Conn.) claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the number five match. Freshman Antonio Chavderov (New Port Richey, Fla.) wrapped up the evening with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph in six singles over Bonilla-Guevara.
