Men's Tennis Drops a Pair of Matches to Mitchell

WESTON, Mass. – The Lesley University men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to Mitchell College this afternoon in a New England Collegiate Conference doubleheader played at the Regis College Courts. The Mariners used 7-2 scores in each of the matches as they improved to 2-3 overall and 2-3 in NECC play. The pair of losses slides Lesley to 0-7 on the year and 0-7 in the NECC.

In top doubles play, Mitchell junior Orson Sinclair (New London, Conn.) and senior Michael Berman (Fair Lawn, N.J.) posted a pair of 8-0 victories on the afternoon. The freshmen duo Matthew Destasio (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Nathaniel Bowe used a score of 8-2 to down Lynx rookie Max Anthony (Cambridge, Mass.) and sophomore Alex Bonilla-Guevara (Cambridge, Mass.) in the opening match, before outlasting juniors Pierre St. Simon (Farmingdale, Mass.) and Devon Mayo (Newport News, Va.) 8-5 in the nightcap.

Sinclair utilized identical set scores of 6-2, 6-4 in both matches over Marcolini in the top singles slot. Berman blanked Anthony 6-0, 6-0 in the first match of the day before out-battling the Lesley freshman 6-0, 5-7, 10-6 in match two. Destasio, Bowe, and Hartley all picked up a pair of wins at number three, four, and five singles, respectively to round out the 7-2 triumphs for the Mariners.

Lesley will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Regis College for an NECC tilt with the Pride at 4:30p. Mitchell will return to their home courts on Tuesday afternoon for a conference affair with Wheelock College. First serve for that matchup is set for 3:00p.
