Regis Claims Victory Over Men's Tennis

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University men's tennis team fell to Regis College 9-0 Wednesday evening in New England Collegiate Conference play at the Nicholas Athletics Center. With the victory, the Pride move to 10-6 and remain undefeated in the NECC at 4-0 while the loss drops the host Lynx to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Regis swept through doubles play 3-0 with the duo of Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) and Matt Quattrociocchi (Germantown, Md.) earning a win at number one doubles over Niko Marcolini (Newbury, Mass.) and Jack Tortorici (Grass Valley Calif.). Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) followed with a win over Max Anthony (Cambridge, Mass.) and Alex Bonilla-Guevara (Cambridge, Mass.) in the second doubles flight before Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) and Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) followed with a victory in the third doubles match.

Horton earned a victory in the top singles match as he defeated Marcolini 6-0, 6-0. Jack Alaev (Moscow, Russia) took a decision 6-0, 6-0 over Pierre St. Simon (Farmingdale, N.Y.) in the sixth singles match while Polley, Quattrociocchi and Cam Charbonneau (Guildford, Conn.), also earned 6-0, 6-0 victories.

Lesley junior Devon Mayo (Newport News, Va.) won the only point of the entire match for the Lynx at number five singles after he took a marker in the first set against Morgenbesser before the Regis junior claimed the match 6-1, 6-0.

Lesley will face a quick turnaround and return to NECC action tomorrow when they head to the Sportsmen's Tennis Club in Dorchester for a tilt with Wheelock College tomorrow at 8:30p. Regis returns to the court on Saturday when they travel to conference opponent Mitchell for a 1:00 p.m. duel with the Mariners.
