Men's Tennis Falls in NECC Quarterfinals

WESTON, Mass. – Top-seeded Regis College advanced to its third straight New England Collegiate Conference Championship match with a 9-0 sweep of Lesley University in an NECC Men's Tennis Semifinal match on Saturday morning.

The Pride (16-6) will take on No. 3 Becker College on Sunday afternoon in the NECC Championship at 12:00 p.m. at Regis. The Hawks (7-5) defeated No. 2 Mitchell College, 6-3, in the other NECC Semifinal. Lesley wraps up its season at 3-12 overall.

Regis jumped out to an early 3-0 lead as all three doubles matches were decided by matching scores of 8-0. Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) and Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) defeated Niko Marcolini (Newbury, Mass.) and Billy Baker (Sacramento, Calif.) at No. 1 doubles, while Nathan Cohen (Randolph, Mass.) and Matt Quattrociocchi (Germantown, Md.) beat Jordan Santos (Middlebury, Conn.) and Walker Panek (Carlsbad, Calif.) at No. 2 doubles.

Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) and Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) added a win at No. 3 doubles over Jack Tortorici (Grass Valley, Calif.) and James Webb (San Francisco, Calif.).

The Pride kept up the momentum as the match moved to singles play with five of the six singles matches being decided by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Beluch defeated Marcolini at No. 1 singles, with Harrow beating Baker at No. 2. Quattrociocchi, Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) and Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) added wins at No. 4, 5, and 6 singles, resepectively.

Nathan Cohen rounded out play with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles over Santos.
