Becker Too Much for Men's Tennis

LEICESTER, Mass. – Becker College completed the regular season series sweep of Lesley University this with a 9-0 victory over the Lynx this afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference action in Leicester, Mass. The loss drops the Lynx to 3-9 overall and 2-5 in the NECC while the Hawks, winners of two of their last three matches, improves to 4-3 on the season and an even 2-2 in the conference.

Becker sophomores Aaron Peterson (San Diego, Calif.) and Connor Allison (Hillsboro, Ore.) kicked off doubles play with an 8-1 win over Lesley sophomores Harrison Sidell (Newhall, Calif.) and Billy Baker (Sacramento, Calif.). Hawks junior Brittan Morris (Cedar Park, Texas) and freshman Thomas Lanphear (Manchester, Maine) teamed up to earn an 8-2 victory over Lynx sophomore Joshua Marcellino (New Sharon, Maine) and junior Jack Tortorici (Grass Valley, Calif.) in number two doubles. Becker's third duo of freshmen Thomas Nourie (Morgan Hill, Calif.) and Francis Musick (Laurel Springs, N.J.) topped Lesley's tandem of juniors Walker Panek (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Ryan Richardson (Santa Barbara, Calif.) 8-1 to complete the doubles sweep.

Morris sprinted past Sidell 6-1, 6-1 in first singles while Lanphear posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Marcellino in the second flight. Allison topped Tortorici 6-1, 6-2 in the third match before Nourie bested Panek 6-1, 6-1. Becker freshman Oliver Awat (Springfield, Mass.) used set scores of 6-3, 6-0 to beat Richardson in fifth singles before Guillermo Romera Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain) completed the 9-0 sweep for the Hawks as he posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Colin Zeigler (Waldmohr, Germany).

The Lynx return home to Cambridge for an NECC match against Regis College at 11:00a while the Hawks will play host to Newbury College on Saturday at noon.
