Regis Sweeps Through Men's Tennis

NATICK, Mass. -- Reigning New England Collegiate Conference Champion Regis College powered past Lesley University 9-0 in NECC play this evening at the Natick Racquet Club. The Pride swept through both the doubles and singles portion of the match as they improve to 9-6 on the season and a perfect 2-0 in conference action. The loss drops the Lynx to 0-4 on the year and 0-2 in the NECC.

Regis recorded a clean sweep in the doubles portion of the match as the duos of Nathan Cohen (Randolph, Mass.) and Matt Quattrociocchi (Germantown, Md.), Mike Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) and Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.), and Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) and Jeremy Morganbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) all posted 8-0 victories in number two, number one, and number three doubles, respectively.

Lynx junior Jack Tortorici (Grass Valley, Calif.) fell to Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 match to kick off the singles portion of the match before Beluch retired Lesley freshman Niko Marcolini (Newbury, Mass.) also by a score of 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the win for the Pride.

Lesley sophomore Josh Marcellini (Augusta, Maine) fell to Cohen in straight sets in the No. 3 match while Regis junior Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) and Morganbesser completed the sweep for the Pride with victories in No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

Harrow was credited for the win in No. 2 singles as Lesley retired due to injury.

The Lynx will kick off a three-match homestand on Monday as they play host to Newbury College on Tuesday at 7:30p at the Nicholas Athletics Center.
