Becker Trips Up Men's Tennis

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University fell to Becker College 8-1 in New England Collegiate Conference action tonight at the Nicholas Athletic Center. The loss drops the Lynx to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in NECC play while the Hawks improve to 2-0 on the young season and open conference matches at 1-0. The Hawks claimed all three doubles matches before taking five of six matches in the singles portion to secure the victory.

Becker's top doubles tandem of Aaron Peterson (San Diego, Calif.) and Connor Allison (Hillsboro, Ore.) rolled to an 8-2 victory over the Lynx pairing of freshman Niko Marcolini (Newbury, Mass.) and sophomore Billy Baker (Sacramento, Calif.). Becker freshman Thomas Lanphear (Manchester, Maine) and junior Brittan Morris (Cedar Park, Texas) earned an 8-2 victory in the number two slot over Jordan Santos (Middlebury, Conn.) and Jack Tortorici (Grass Valley, Calif.). The Hawks concluded the doubles sweep as sophomore Brian Fradsham (West Boylston, Mass.) and freshman Francis Musick (Laurel Springs, N.J.) topped Lynx first year James Webb (San Francisco, Calif.) and junior Ian Barber (Westhampton, Mass.) by a score of 8-1.

Allison continued his success in the singles portion as he clipped Webb 6-3, 6-0 in No. 6 singles before freshman Thomas Nourie (Morgan Hill, Calif.) topped Barber 6-1, 6-1 in the fifth singles flight to secure the win for the Hawks.

Peterson defeated Marcolini in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, in the top singles match before Baker put Lesley on the board as he defeated Lamphear 7-5, 6-2 in number two doubles play.

Morris and Fradsham finished the 8-1 win with victories in No.  3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.

The Lynx return to action tomorrow as they play their third match in five days as they travel to Regis College at 5:00p. The Hawks will travel to New London, Conn. on Monday as they square off with Mitchell College at 3:30p.
