Regis Swings Through Men's Tennis

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University men's tennis team fell to Regis College, 9-0, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action this evening at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols. With the win, the Pride kept a firm grasp atop the conference standings as they improve to 6-0 in NECC play and 9-5 overall. The Lynx drop to 0-4 in conference action and 0-5 on the year.

Regis got the night rolling as junior Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) teamed up with freshman Jarid Polley (Reading, Mass.) to take an 8-0 victory in No. 1 doubles over Lesley first year Harrison Sidell (Newhall, Calif.) and sophomore Trevor Martin (Whitinsville, Mass.). In third doubles, Pride sophomore Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) and Jeff Parrish grabbed another 8-0 sweep as the two topped Lynx senior Aqib Shah (Watertown, Mass.) and sophomore Jack Tortorici (Grass Valley, Calif.).

The Regis tandem of Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.) and Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) completed the sweep in the doubles portion of the match in the second doubles flight , topping Lesley freshman Billy Baker (Sacramento, Calif.) and sophomore Chris Hunt (San Diego, Calif.)

Beluch and Morgenbesser carried their momentum into the singles portion of the night, posting 6-0, 6-0 victories in No. 1 singles and No.2 singles, respectively. White also grabbed a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in No. 3 singles, posting a victory over Baker.

Polley topped Martin in No.3 singles, 6-1, 6-0 while freshman Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) also picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Hunt in No. 5 singles. Freshman John Carraccio (Whethersfield, Conn.) completed the 9-0 sweep for the Pride, posting a hard fought 7-5, 6-2 win in the sixth singles match over Tortorici.

The Lynx will continue their three-game homestand when they welcome NECC foe Newbury College to Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols tomorrow evening at 5:00p. The Pride will also return to NECC play tomorrow when they travel to Wheelock College. First serve for that match is set for 12:00p.
