Becker Downs Men's Tennis in NECC Play

LEICESTER, Mass. -- Becker College defeated Lesley University 8-1 in New England Collegiate Conference men's tennis action Tuesday afternoon. The win improves the Hawks record to 2-1 on the season and 2-1 in NECC play while the Lynx fall to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

In top doubles action, Becker's Bernardo MacAroun (Santa Doroteia, Brazil) and Aaron Peterson (San Diego, Calif.) soared past Trevor Martin (Whitinsville, Mass.) and Harrison Sidell (Newhall, Calif.) 8-0. The Hawks captured number two doubles when Brittan Morris (Cedar Park, Texas) and Tyler Newsome (Brantford, Ontario) bested Billy Baker (Sacramento, Calif.) and Chris Hunt (San Diego, Calif.) 8-3.

Becker completed the sweep of doubles when Brian Fradsham (West Boylston, Mass.) and William Humpfryes (Falmouth, Mass.) defeated Aqib Shah (Watertown, Mass.) and Jack Tortorici (Grass Valley, Calif.) 8-1.

In top singles action, Bernardo MacAroun downed Harrison Sidell in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 while Aaron Peterson defeated Aqib Shah in No.2 singles with scores of 6-0, 6-1. In the third singles flight, Brian Fradsham battled for a 6-4, 6-4 win over Lesley's Trevor Martin.

The Lynx were able to salvage number four singles when Billy Baker defeated Tyler Newsome 6-3, 6-1. Brittan Morris and Guillermo Romera Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain) nailed down the five and six singles sets as the Hawks earned the 8-1 victory.

Both teams get back on the court on Thursday, April 3. Becker will travel to Newbury College for a 3:30 p.m. tilt with the Nighthawks, while Lesley heads to Mitchell College at 3:30 p.m.
