GAME OVERVIEW:

NEW LONDON, CT. -- The Lesley men's soccer team suffered their first conference loss of the season on Saturday afternoon after falling 1-0 to the Mitchell College Mariners. The loss brings the Lynx to 7-9 overall on the season and 4-1 in the NECC, while Mitchell advances to 4-9-1 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

• The Mariners had control in the first half, outshooting the Lynx nine to five. The first half was more marked by foul than scoring opportunities, as the Lynx had twelve fouls and the Mariners had eight.
• Foul trouble proved to result in the only blemish on the day for the Lynx. After a foul in the box by Tiago Pacheco, Mitchell's Julian Cortez scored on a penalty kick for what would end up being the only goal of the day.
• Lesley came out more aggressive in the second half in terms of taking scoring chances, but both teams grew more aggressive as the game went on. After the combined twenty first half fouls, the cards started coming out.
• Daniel Hotaling, Christian Urena, and Cortez all earned yellow cards for the Mariners, while Eduardo Tineo earned the first yellow of the game and was sent off with a red in the 81st minute.
• Gerry Chica and AJ Genova earned yellow cards for the Lynx in the 63rd and 89th minutes, respectively.
• The Lynx were a man up for the last ten minutes after Tineo was sent off, but could only muster three shots and were unable to tie the game up.
• Lesley was led in shots by Daniel Monteserin with five and Jack Wadleigh with three, while the Mariners got two shots each from Cortez, Urena, Diego Di Carlantonio, and James Shea.
• David Crutchfield earned an unlucky loss, saving two of the three shots taken at him and only allowing the PK in. Seth Strader got the win for Mitchell, saving three of three shots on net.
• Despite the loss, the Lynx were still able to hold onto a share of first place in the NECC. They are tied with Eastern Nazarene and New England College with twelve points each.

The Lynx will play their final match of the season at home on Wednesday October 30th at 8 PM against conference opponent Eastern Nazarene. The match may determine first place in the NECC.
