BOSTON, Mass – Lesley University Men's Soccer team extended their win-streak to five games with a 4-0 victory at Wheelock College on Saturday night.  Earning their fourth consecutive NECC win, the Lynx now post a conference record of 4-1 and improve to 8-6-1 overall.  With the loss, Wheelock drops to 0-6 in the NECC and 1-12 on the season.

The Lynx got off to a fast start in the first half, recording nine shots on goal within the first fifteen minutes of play.  Wheelock was able to weather the storm temporarily, until Nuno Pereira (Sao Filipe, Cape Verde) took advantage of a penalty kick and found the back of the goal at the sixteen-minute mark.  Lesley added to their lead nineteen minutes later when Tiago Pacheco (Cranston, R.I.) crossed the ball and a Wheelock defender kicked the ball into his own goal in an attempt to clear it.  The Lynx ended the first half with the advantage in shots (20) and corner kicks (5).

"It took us some time to adapt to the small field today, but once we got used to playing in smaller spaces we carried play and created numerous opportunites for ourselves,"  said Head Coach James Costa on the match.

In the second half, Lesley continued to display their offensive prowess.  Shane Rockenbach (Long Beach, Calif) recorded a goal on a penalty kick and Beowulf Urban (Blue Hills, Maine) was assisted by Javier Zubia to add a goal of his own late in the half.  The Lynx continued to command the match in the second half, holding the advantage in shots (22) and corner kicks (3).  David Crutchfield (Shrewsbury, Mass) earned the win in goal for the Lynx, improving his record to 2-3-1 on the season.

Lesley Men's Soccer will host Suffolk University in a non-conference match at Danehy Park in Cambridge Mass on Sunday, October 22nd.  The game is scheduled to start at 9:00am.  Wheelock will travel to Becker next Saturday, October 28th starting at 11:00am.
