Lynx Drop Conference Opener, 4-0

Cambridge, Mass—The Lesley University men's soccer team fell to Dean College 4-0 in their NECC Conference opener.  With the loss the Lynx slip to 2-5 and 0-1 in conference, while the bulldogs improve to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the 25th minute when Pepe Vieira(Brockton, Mass.) delivered his first strike of the season.  That lead doubled a little more than five minutes later when Nathan Estrela (Falmouth, Mass.) set up Felipe Campos (Brockton, Mass.) for the first of his two tallies at the 29:48 mark.

Dean continued to control the tempo of them game in the second half and put pressure on the Lynx defense.  Campos had Dean back on the board in the 66th minute when he deposited an unassisted score into the back of the net for his team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Santiago Cardona (Revere, Mass.) capped the scoring with his second goal of the year in the 73rd minute as the Bulldogs posted their third consecutive shutout.

The Bulldogs held a 19-5 edge in overall shots and an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Sophomore goaltender David Crutchfield had 6 saves for the Lynx.

Lesley next travels to Emerson College Wednesday September 27 for the 12th annual Charles River Cup.
