Babson Second Half Too Much for the Lynx

Babson Second Half Too Much for the Lynx

Cambridge, Mass.—Sophomore Youcef Ziad (Holbrook, Mass.) scored twice and junior Noah Parker (Hampden, Maine) added a goal and an assist as Babson College defeated visiting Lesley University, 4-0, in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field. With the win, Babson is now 3-2-0 on the year, while Lesley slips to 2-3-0 with its second consecutive loss.

Sophomore Alex Crompton (Killington, Vt.) also scored for the Beavers, who tallied all four goals after halftime. First-year Andrew Josephs (Kingston, Jamaica) registered two assists, while senior Pat O'Rourke (Hingham, Mass.), sophomore Chris Czarnecki (Baltimore, Md.) and first-year Samuel Lalor (Washington, D.C.) all chipped in with one assist apiece.

The Green and White outshot the defensive-minded Lynx 15-1 over in the opening half, but were unable to break through until the 57th minute. O'Rourke found Czarnecki with a thru ball into the box and he laid it off to Crompton on his left for an easy finish and a 1-0 lead.

Parker doubled the advantage in the 74th minute with a blast from just inside the box to the upper left corner, and then set up the first of Ziad's with a nifty pass behind the defense in the 82nd minute. Ziad struck again just 52 seconds later for the final margin.

Sophomore Austin Mankouski (Suffield, Conn.) did not have to make a save to record his second career shutout in his first start of the season for the Beavers. Senior James Webb (San Francisco, Calif.) finished with nine saves for Lesley.

The Green and White finished with a 28-1 edge in shots and a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Babson returns to action on Saturday when it hosts WPI at 12 p.m., while Lesley takes on Pine Manor next Tuesday at 8 p.m.
