MEN'S SOCCER EARNS SECOND SHUT-OUT FOLLOWING WIN OVER WHEELOCK

BOSTON, Mass. – The Lesley University men's soccer team earned their second shut-out of the season with a 9-0 victory over Wheelock College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action, Saturday evening. Senior forward Wilson Zuo (Dorchester, Mass.) registered a hat-trick which included scoring twice in the first half to lead the Lynx to victory.

Zuo and the Lynx offense wasted little time opening up, scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes. At the 9:02-minute mark, junior midfielder Anthony Vitta (Oceanside, N.Y.) connected with Zuo to put Lesley on the board. Less than 30 seconds later, senior defender Billy Baker (Sacramento, Calif.) doubled the lead with an unassisted goal at 9:31 of the first.

The Wildcats were able to minimize the damage, settling down to keeping the Lynx off the scoreboard for the next 30 minutes. But just before the clock ran down to end the half Lesley scored twice more to take a 4-0 lead into the break.  Zuo found the back of the next for his second goal of the game in the 40th minute while first year Tiago Pacheco (Cranston, R.I.) scored in the 43rd.

When the teams returned to the pitch at the start of the second period, the Lynx offense remained red-hot. Five minutes into the half, Zuo scored his third goal of the game to increase the lead to 5-0 but the Lynx offense was not done. Sophomore defender Adam Valladares (Middleton, N.H.) and senior midfielder Harrison Sidell (Newhall, Calif.) each scored in the 62nd minute to give the Lynx a 7-0 lead.

Senior midfielder Colin Zeigler (Waldmohr, Germany) scored his second goal of the season in the 73rd minutes while sophomore midfielder Enzo Bertolotti (New York, N.Y.) recorded his first collegiate career goal in the 87th minute.

Junior goalkeeper James Webb (San Francisco, Calif.), who played the first 45 minutes, earned his fifth victory and second shut-out of the season improving to 5-10-1.

Lesley improves to 5-10-1 and 4-2 in conference play while Wheelock drops to 0-15 and 0-6 in the NECC. The Lynx return to Wednesday October 26th when they host Mitchell College on Senior Night at 8:00 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass.
