Men's Soccer Eyeing Spot in NECC Title Game

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The fifth-seeded Lesley University men's soccer team (9-7-2) will travel to top-seeded Elms College (9-8-0) tonight for a New England Collegiate Conference  Semifinal match and play for a spot in the Championship final on Sunday.

Scouting Elms:
The Blazers enter the tournament winners five of their last six matches, their only blemish coming on a 4-2 setback to the Lynx in Lesley's home finale. Ziggy Jonathan and Adam O'Grady lead the charge for the Elms offense, finding the back of the net nine and eight times, respectively. Sophomore goalkeeper boasts a 0.97 GAA in net while classmate Nick Pennant leads the team with five wins.

 

Scouting Lesley:
Lesley advances to the NECC Semifinals after posting a 1-0 win on the road against fourth-seeded Regis College. Junior tri-captain Jordan Santos scored the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute.  First year forward, Erik Johansen leads the way with 13 goals and two assists and had an incredible four-goal performance in the 4-2 win over Elms in their regular season matchup. In goal, senior Nathan Trucks recorded his eighth win of the season on Wednesday and boasts an NECC-leading 0.83 goals against average. 


Previous Matchups:
Since the 2006 season, Lesley is 7-2-0 against the Blazers. The two teams squared off in the NECC Title match last season when Elms captured a 2-0 win, sending them to the NCAA Tournament. The Lynx topped the Blazers 4-2 in their only meeting this season.
