SOMERVILLE, Mass. – Lesley University freshman Erik Johansen (West Harrison, N.Y.) continued his fantastic rookie season netting four goals, leading the Lynx to a 4-2 win over New England Collegiate Conference foe Elms College tonight at Dilboy Stadium on Senior Night. With the victory the Lynx improve to 8-6-2 on the year and 3-2-1 in NECC play while the Blazers drops to 7-8-0 overall and 3-2-0 in conference action.

The Lynx honored their three seniors Makenize Lukas (Reno, Nev.), Nathan Trucks (Guilford, Conn.), and Josh Weinert (Newark, Calif.) with a halftime ceremony to commemorate their career with Lesley.

Johansen got the home team on the board first in the 31^st minute when he put home a cross from sophomore Walker Panek (Carlsbad, Calif.) before adding his second tally just eight minutes later. The freshman took a pass in transition from classmate Mahmoud Chabarek (Allepo, Syria) before torching a shot from just outside and inside the far post to give the Lynx a 2-0 lead that they would carry into the half.

Coming out of the break, Elms sophomore Connor O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) had a couple of chances that nearly tied up the match. In the 50^th minute, O'Grady settled a free kick and blasted a shot from the left side but saw the ball curve just outside of the far post. Just five minutes later he fired a shot that seemed destined for the back of the net, but Trucks made an outstanding, acrobatic effort to tip the ball over the crossbar keeping the visitors scoreless as the Lynx backline squandered the ensuing Blazer corner kick.

Johansen would complete his third hat-trick of the year when he corralled a long pass from sophomore defender Chris Hunt (San Diego, Calif.) and beat the Elms keeper one-on-one with a right-footed chip shot putting Lesley up 3-0.

Elms would get on the board just three minutes later when senior Ziggy Jonathan (Springfield, Mass.) netted his eighth of the year when his diving header beat Trucks to the far post. Sophomore Safa Saady (Baghdad, Iraq) sent a cross into the box that found the head of Jonathan to cut the Lesley lead to 3-1.

Panek would set up Johansen once again in the 83^rd minute as the rookie found the back of the net for the fourth time of the match and 13^th time this season.

Elms would continue the comeback effort when Saady sent a free kick from 25 yards out past Trucks, but it was too little, too late as the Lynx held on for the 4-2 win.

The Blazers held a 14-10 edge in shots over the Lynx and a 5-3 advantage on corner kicks.

Trucks was fantastic between the pipes for the Green and White, making four stops to earn his seventh win of the season.

Lesley will wrap up their regular season on Tuesday, October 22^nd when they travel to Mitchell College for a 3:30p start. Elms will be back in action on Wednesday, October 23^rd as they travel to Becker College at 4:00p.
