Howard's Tally Gives Men's Soccer Win Over Becker

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Marcel Howard (Newport News, Va.) notched his first goal of his Lesley career just 22-seconds into the second half to lift the Lynx to a 1-0 win over Becker College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's soccer action tonight at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols. With the win, the Lynx improve to 7-6-2 on the year and 2-2-1 in conference play while the Hawks remain winless at 0-14-1 and 0-4-1 in the NECC.

The win snaps a three-game losing skid, their longest such streak since dropping four in a row during the 2007 campaign.

Freshman Chris Anderson (Daly City, Calif.) sent a cross from the right side that found the foot of Howard before he beat Becker goalkeeper Tim MacDonald (Holden, Mass.) to give the Lynx the 1-0 advantage in what proved to be the game winner. The assist was Anderson's second of the season.

The Lynx were in control throughout out the match, outshooting the Hawks 24-2 on the night while holding a 3-0 advantage on corner kicks.

MacDonald made eight stops for the visitors in the loss while Lesley senior goalkeeper Nathan Trucks (Guilford, Conn.) stopped both shots he faced as he recorded his fourth shutout of the season.

Lesley will return to the pitch on Saturday, October 19th for more NECC action when they host Elms College at 6:00p at Dilboy Stadium. The Lynx will also celebrate Senior Day at halftime of the match. Becker will also be in NECC play on Saturday when they travel to Mitchell College for a 2:30p matinee with the Mariners.
