Nashua – Freshman Ian Hutchinson (Litchfield, N.H.) buried a direct kick with 9:36 remaining in regulation and the goal stood up as the game winner sending host Daniel Webster past Lesley, 1-0 in an important New England Collegiate Conference contest Saturday at Eagle Field.

Hutchinson, who drew a foul from 25 yards, set and drilled a low arching shot that hooked sharply right around four Lesley defenders and nicked the far right post just past a sprawling Lynx keeper Nathan Trucks (Guilford, Conn.) for his second goal of the season as the Eagles (7-6-1, 2-3 NECC) won for the third time in their last four outings, and topped Lesley for just the second time in the last five meetings between the two clubs.

Lesley (6-6-2, 1-2-1 NECC) pressed over the final nine minutes and had a superb opportunity with five minutes remaining as Erik Johansen (West Harrison, N.Y.) hopped on a loose ball from 20 yards out with Eagle keeper Sean Hamilton (Brookline, N.H.) out of position. Johansen's shot was on target but Eagle Mark Hogan (Haverhill, Mass.) blocked the shot halting the threat and the Eagles held on over the final minutes.

Both teams battled for field position all afternoon and were virtually even throughout with DWC finishing with a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal and total shots (9-8) while both teams combined for 16 fouls.

Both Hamilton and Trucks would finish with five saves apiece.

Johansen finished with three shots on goal for Lesley. Michael Ottman (Kennebunkport, Maine) put two on net for the hosts.

The Eagles return to action on Wednesday when they visit Fitchburg State for a 7:00 p.m. meeting. Lesley hosts Becker in a NECC matchup on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.
