Men's Soccer Shuts Out Rivier, Stays Unbeaten

NASHUA, N.H. – The Lesley University Men's Soccer team continued to stay unbeaten and topped Rivier University after a 2-0 decision this evening in the rain at Raider Field. The setback drops the Raiders to a 1-1 overall record while the Lynx improve to 3-0-1.

Lesley got on the board early in the first half as sophomore Walker Panek (Carlsbad, Calif.) took a cross from junior Jordan Santos (Middlebury, CT) and banked it off the inside of the right post to give the visiting team the lead for good. The goal was the first of Panek's career.

For the rest of the half and most of the second, the Raiders and Lynx battled back-and-forth with both squads seeing valuable scoring opportunities missed.

Freshman Wilton Zuo (Dorchester, MA) was the beneficiary of a Raider miscue when he was given the ball in free space inside the 18 as he also netted his first collegiate goal.

Rivier freshman goalkeeper Gary Archambault (Auburn, NH) made 8 saves on the evening while his counterpart, senior Nathan Trucks (Guilford, CT) stopped both shots he saw on net.

Lesley held Rivier to just one shot in each half, holding a 23-2 advantage in total shots. Sophomore Chris Hunt (San Diego, Calif.) led the team with three shots on goal. The Lynx also held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Lesley will look to remain unbeaten in their next contest when they travel to Anna Maria College on Monday afternoon. The Raiders will return to action next Saturday afternoon as they begin Great Northeast Athletic Conference play with a 4pm home game vs. Johnson and Wales University.
