Santos, Trucks, Lukas to Lead Men's Soccer

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Looking ahead to the 2013 fall season, Lesley University head men's soccer coach Paul Vasconcelos has announced his team's tri-captains for the 2013 season.

Senior goalkeeper Nathan Trucks ( Guilford, CT) and junior midfielder Jordan Santos (Middlebury,CT) join senior forward Makenzie Lukas (Reno, NV) as the leaders of the 2013 Lynx.

"We are going to be young for the next few years after graduating 12 seniors," said Vasconcelos.

"We need to make sure we chose guys who could help us transition into a new phase in the program.

"We are very happy for them and their families, as we feel it is an honor to be a captain here at Lesley."

Santos is coming off a junior season in which he was a Second Team All-NECC selection.

"Jordan has matured quite a bit in his time here," said Vasconcelos, who was named NECC Coach of the Year for the third time. "He is more of a leader through his play on the field - he competes for us."

Lukas came in and did well in his first season with the Lynx. The Feather River Community College transfer returns following a junior year in which he played in 19 matches, scored three goals and notched two assists at the forward position.

"Makenzie came in and brought in a level of energy we had been lacking for some time. You can tell he loves the program and wants to win."

Trucks will enter 2013 as one of only three seniors after spending most of his career as a backup to two former Goalkeeper of the Year Award winners in Zach Almeida-Beers (2010) and Nigel Leahy (2012).

"Nathan is ready to lead our program," Vasconcelos said. "I am confident he will do a great job."
