BENNINGTON, Vt. - The Lesley University men's soccer team faced off with Southern Vermont College in their second New England Collegiate Conference match of the season and tied with the Mountaineers 1-1.  The Lynx moved their record to 7-2-2 (1-0-1 NECC) while the Mountaineers are now 8-2-1 (2-0-1 NECC).

Lesley outshot Southern Vermont 26-13 and took eight corner kicks to their opponent's one, but the Lynx could not put more than one goal in the back of the net.

Southern Vermont's Nick Haggerty (Wynantskill, N.Y./Averill Park) gave the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 18th minute of the first half.  Haggerty's goal, his team-high 11th of the season, was unassisted.

The Mountaineers held their goal advantage into halftime, but just over five minutes into the second half the Lynx knotted the score 1-1.  After a series of shots by Lesley that deflected off the crossbar and post, Zach Rocha (NEW BEDFORD, Mass./New Bedford) finally delivered for the Lynx.

Both teams battled through two overtimes with Lesley attempting four shots and Southern Vermont attempting two shots, but neither team was able to collect the game-winner.

Lesley keeper Zachary Almeida-Beers (REHOBOTH, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth Regional) made seven saves in the match, allowing just one goal.  Southern Vermont's Aaron Eschler (GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y./Broadalbin-Perth) matched Almeida-Beers statistics with seven saves and one goal allowed.

Lesley will host Suffolk University on Tuesday, October 6 at 8:00 pm for a non-league match while Southern Vermont travels to Daniel Webster College on October 10 for a 1:00 pm NECC match.
