Three freshman score in Lesley's 4-0 win over Elms

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University men's soccer team had four different players score goals on Sunday afternoon against New England Collegiate Conference opponent Elms College as the Lynx beat the Blazers 4-0.  The Lynx improved to 6-2-1 (1-0 NECC) while the Blazers dropped to 2-6 (1-1 NECC).

All four of Lesley's goals came in the second half of the match as three freshmen scored their first career collegiate goals. 

Darius Koep (PITTSTOWN, N.J./Del-Val) kicked off the scoring at 48:24 by one-timing a cross pass from Ryan Rodgers (HOLLIS, N.H./High Mowing) to the left corner of the net.

In an identical play, Nick Mattox (PASADENA, Md./Chesapeake) received a cross pass again from Rodgers and put his shot in the back of the net for his first career goal.  Mattox's goal was in the 54th minute.

Less than ten minutes later at 62:50, Tyler Reeves (COVENTRY, Conn./Coventry) scored his four goal of the season.  Ari Sinanis (GUILFORD, Conn./Guilford) sent a long lead pass to Connor Stockton (QUOGUE, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) who crossed the ball into the goalie box to Reeves for the goal. 

Lesley's final goal of the season came from Christopher Wilhelm (HEIDELBURG, Germany/Heidelburg) who redirected a header past Elms keeper Nick Pellegrini (LUDLOW, Mass./Ludlow) after a long cross pass from Beau Morimando (BAYSHORE, N.Y./St. John the Baptist). 

The Lynx outshot the Blazers 22-10 and held an 11-2 advantage on corner kicks. 

Zach Almeida-Beers (REHOBOTH, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth Regional) and Max Perkins (LEXINGTON, Mass/Lexington) combined for the shutout with Almeida-Beers registering two saves.  For Elms, Ryan Sullivan (AGAWAM, Mass./St. Mary's Westfield) and Pellegrini gave up four goals and made two saves each.

Lesley visits Rivier College on Monday, September 28 for a match at 5:30 pm while Elms travels to WPI on Wednesday, September 30 for a 7:00 pm.
