Lesley men's soccer names captains for 2010 season

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Head Men's Soccer Coach Paul Vasconcelos has announced the three team captains for the 2010 season. Senior midfielder Tyler Reeves (COVENTRY, Conn./Coventry), senior defender Stephen Siragusa (VALLEY STREAM, N.Y./Valley Stream) will join senior goalkeeper Zachary Almeida-Beers (REHOBOTH, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth Regional) as the leaders of the Lynx.

Vasconcelos said about the selection, "These three young men are great student-athletes who lead by example.  We are very happy for them and their families, as we feel it is an honor to be a captain here at Lesley."

Reeves' presence on and off the field for the past three years has been a tremendous reason why the men's soccer program has gained legitimacy in the region.  "He is involved heavily with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has been a vocal leader the past few years," said Vasconcelos.

Siragusa has been a leader since he arrived in Cambridge and has benefited from playing side-by-side with three-year captain Scott Wheeler (EAST HAMPTON, Conn./East Hampton) who is graduating this spring.  Vasconcelos said, "Stephen is ready to lead our program and I am confident he will do a great job."

Almeida-Beers has been a staple in net in his first three years at Lesley.  In 2009, he was selected as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Goalkeeper of the Year by the conference coaches.  "ZAB is a Dean's List student-athlete and is a model for the rest of the guys on this team," said Vasconcelos.

The players, captains, and coaching staff will now look forward to a productive relationship and further development for the Fall 2010 season.
