Reeves' second half heroics lift Lynx

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In their first North Atlantic Conference game of the year, the Lesley University Lynx rallied in the second half to beat Thomas College 2-1.

Freshman striker Tyler Reeves (Coventry, Conn.) found the back of the net twice in the second half, scoring both goals for the Lynx, to beat the Terriers.  Stephen Siragusa (Valley Stream, N.Y.) assisted the rookie on his first goal in the 51st minute as Reeves' shot deflected off a Terriers defender and past keeper Russell Beckwith to tie the game.  With four minutes left in the game, Reeves struck again as his second goal broke the tie and gave the Lynx a hard earned victory.

Both teams were offensively aggressive in the first half.  Yellow cards were handed out to Terriers midfielder Cory Daigneault and Lynx striker Nicholas Pedrick (Ipswich, Mass.) for making illegal contact with the opposing goalie while chasing after the ball.  The Terriers offensive scored first as Thomas College junior striker Tim Costa gave the Terriers an early lead with a header off the lead pass from Douglas Tibbets.

"Going into halftime down one goal, we knew that our offensive had to step it up.  We needed to give ourselves more opportunities to score by applying more pressure on the other team's side of the field," commented Head Coach Paul Vasconcelos.  "I give credit to our whole team for working hard to produce quality offensive chances in the second half."

With this victory, the Lynx improved their overall record to 3-1-1 (1-0-0 NAC).  Next up for Lesley is Emerson College on Monday September 24 at 6 p.m.
