CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University men's basketball team split the season series with Mitchell College, falling to the Mariners, 94-81, in overtime, Saturday afternoon. Junior forward Brayvon Young (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and sophomore forward Domenico Santiago (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) led four Mariners in double figures, netting a team-high 19 points.

Mitchell trailed for the majority of the contest only leading briefly in the first few minutes but midway through the second half they began to make their move. With 8:42 remaining in regulation, sophomore forward Charlie Reznikoff (Wilton, Conn.) extended the Lynx lead to 16 points, 66-50, knocking down a jumper but the Mariners answered. Junior guard Alex Morgan (Port St. Lucie. Fla.) connected with Santiago in the paint to cap off a 14-2 run and close the deficit to two possessions, 68-64.

The Mariners were just getting started. All game momentum was on the side of the Lynx but late in the second half it quickly evaporated and shifted over to the Mariner bench. Junior guard Marquise Johnson (Hampton, Va.) gave the Lynx some breathing room with lay-up to push their lead to six, 70-64, as time drained off the clock but the Mariners continued to hang around.

Trailing by six, 74-68, with under two minutes left in regulation, Young capped off a 7-0 Mariner run with a long two-point jumper with 24 seconds on the clock to give Mitchell their first lead, 75-74, since 1:33 into the contest. However, Lynx sophomore forward Joey Martin (Melbourne, Fla.) responded and forced overtime knocking down one-of-two from the charity stripe and tie up the game at 75-75.

But the overtime period belonged to the Mariners. Opening the five minute extra period with a 5-0 run to take an 80-75, they never looked back as they outscored the Lynx, 16-9, in overtime.

First year forward Hasani Williams (Miramar, Fla.) followed up Young and Santiago tallying 14 points while Geary McLeod came off the bench to net 17 points to round out the Mariners in double figures.

Senior guard Devin Mayo (Newport News, Va.) led the Lynx draining a game-high 22 points while Golding was nine-of-22 from the field for 21 points. Senior forward Pierre St. Simon (Farmingdale, N.Y.) followed up with 11 points to round out the Lynx trio in double digit points.

Lesley will be back in action Tuesday evening when they travel to Weston, Mass. to tip-off against Regis College at 6:00 p.m.
