CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Southern Vermont College downed host Lesley University 98-75 tonight in New England Collegiate Conference play at the Nicholas Athletics Center. The Mountaineers, winners of three straight, improve to 4-2 on the season and 2-0 NECC play while the Lynx dip to 0-9 overall and 0-2 in conference games.

Lesley used a layup from Pierre St. Simon (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and a free throw from Xeo Golding (Windermere, Fla.) to score the first three points of the game before the guests went on to score the next eleven unanswered as part of a torrid 29-2 run over the next ten minutes of play to take a commanding 29-5 lead.

The Mountaineers would push their lead to as big as 28-points in the opening half following a triple from senior William Bromirski (Cambridge, N.Y.), one of his three made from deep on the night, before carrying a 54-26 lead into the break.

Lesley opened the second half of play with a 10-5 spurt, sparked by back-to-back trey's and a layup from Xeo Golding (Windermere, Fla.) before Terrell Toney (Lakewood, Wash.) capped the run with a layup. SVC would counter quickly and regain control of the game using a brief 5-1 streak to extend their lead back to 27 points and would roll to the 98-75 win.

Six Mountaineers would finish in double figures, heralded by 16 points apiece from Rayshawn Taylor (Silver Springs, Md.) and Casey Hall (Albany, N.Y.). Nate Goldsmith (Capitol Heights, Md.) came off the bench to provide 15 points and six boards while Bromirski finished with 13. Deshawn Hamlet (Hartford, Conn.) came one rebound shy of a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds to go with his four assists.

Four Lynx eclipsed into double-digits as Toney led the hosts with a game-best 17 points and six caroms. William Cuffee (Amherst, Mass.) turned in a career-high 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists in reserve duty while Golding also added 12 points. St. Simon added 11 points and pulled down a career-best nine boards and Devon Mayo (Newport News, Va.) finished with nine points, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

The SVC defense limited Lesley to just 25-percent shooting in the first half, though the Lynx recovered in the second to convert on 46-percent of their shots in the second to finish with a 39.7 percentage on the night. The Lynx outscored the Mountaineers 49-44 in the second stanza.

The Lynx will be off until Thursday when they return to their home floor and play host to Mount Ida College at 8:00p in their final home game of the semester. SVC will travel to Vassar on Wednesday for a 7:00p tip-off.
