Vikings sail past Lynx in hot first half for 14th straight

SALEM, MA -- Salem State shot 8-14 from three-point range in the first half in the Vikings 100-60 win over Lesley Thursday night.

For the Lynx, John Stockton scored a game- and career-high 14 points on 4-7 shooting from three-point range. Forward Harold Smith posted a double-double with 12 points and a game-best 10 rebounds.

The Vikings opened the game on a 12-2 run spanning the first 4:21. Dan Clark's 4-8 shooting from downtown. A D'Elijah Dauphin three-pointer cut the margin to eight, 22-14, at the 10:00 mark, but a lightning-quick 15-0 Vikings run spanning just over 3:00 blew the game open at 37-14.

Things got worse when Deven Ligon's half-court buzzerbeater fell through to cap a 10-0 Salem State run to end the half, when the Vikings led 59-23.

All 13 players on the Salem State roster converted at least one field goal on the game. A quartet of Vikings scored in double-figures led by Dan Clark's 14 points, which tied Stockton for game-high honors on 4-8 shooting from distance.

For Lesley, Stockton was one of the only bright spots of the second half, as he scored all of his 14 points after halftime. Mike Kaufman also registered in double figures for the first time in his Lynx tenure, scoring six of his career-high 10 in the period.

Lesley returns to Cambridge Saturday on Senior Night, when the Lynx will honor seniors Smith, Jesus Trejo and Thorton Paul. With a win in the 8:00 p.m. tip against Daniel Webster, Lesley can secure a spot in the New England Collegiate Conference playoff.
