NEWPORT, R.I. - The Lesley University men's basketball team traveled down to Newport, Rhode Island to face off against Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon and lost to the Seahawks 86-51.  The Lynx dropped their season record to 2-7 while the Seahawks improved to 3-5.

Lesley had three players with double-digit points with Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) leading the way with a team-high 14 points.  Malcolm Andrews (Medford, Mass.) and Jonathan Cruz (Haverhill, Mass.) had 11 and 10 points, respective for the Lynx.

Salve Regina senior guard Justin Woodworth (Ipswich, Mass.) scored a game-high 27 points for the Seahawks in the victory.  Woodworth currently stands 23 points shy of 1,000 career points which would place him 13th on the school's all-time scoring list.

The Seahawks also received a solid overall effort from Windell Hinkson (Groton, Conn.) who had 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Twelve of Hinkson's 18 points came from long range as the guard was 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.

Lesley took a lead early in the first half after a made jumper by Trejo and a three-pointer from Andrews.  Salve Regina would take the lead after a fast break layup from Hinkson after Woodworth stole the ball from Lynx guard Cruz.  It would be the only lead change in the game as Salve Regina converted 16 Lesley turnovers in 24 points in the first half to go into halftime with a 46-24 advantage.

The Seahawks maintained their pace in the second half opened up their lead even more for the 35 point margin of victory.

Lesley will host their second game of the season on Wednesday when they play Curry College at 8 pm.  The Lynx defeated Curry earlier this season 79-71.  Salve Regina travels to Connecticut College on Tuesday for an 8 pm game.
