Chatman takes over second half in Lynx victory

Cambridge, Mass. - In their first home game of the season for the men's basketball team, the Lesley University Lynx dominated the second half to beat Eastern Nazarene College 80-63.

Senior guard Joe Chatman (Boston, Mass.) scored 18 of his 23 points in the second half to lead the Lynx and Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) got his second double-double of the season netting 20 points and grabbing 12 boards.

The Lynx struggled in the first half, shooting just 36.1% from the field, but the team responded in a big way in the second half hitting 18 of 27 and shooting 54.5% from beyond the arc.  Junior Dana Datillo (Derry, N.H.) contributed to the high three-point percentage by hitting four of eight attempts for 12 total game points.

Eastern Nazarene had a quality performance from Jean-Paul Marcellus (Dorchester, Mass.) who was a major force for the Crusaders scoring 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.  Jeremy Hueston was dangerous with the deep shot, hitting three of seven three-pointers.

"We got a chance to play our style of basketball in the second half," commented Head Coach Scott Willard.  "We have guys like Joe Chatman and Mark Stevens who can run the court and a player like Jesus Trejo who can post up.  That kind of balance will make us really competitive when we get to the conference games."

The Lynx will be in action this weekend as they travel to UMass-Boston for a tournament against Framingham State, UMaine-Fort Kent, and UMass-Boston.
