Lesley captains given All-Conference by the NAC

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Lesley University's two senior captains, Joe Chatman (Boston, Mass.) and Mark Stevens (Las Vegas, Nev.), were honored by the North Atlantic Conference as both players were named to the All-Conference squad.

Chatman was given First Team All-Conference after a season in which he averaged 17.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and 3.7 apg against conference opponents.  The senior guard also totaled 30 steals (best on the team) and three blocks on the season.

In the first victory over a state school for the men's basketball program, Chatman finished with 33 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.  He also had an impressive performance in a road conference victory over Becker College where he tallied 30 points, five rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

His most important performance to date this season came this past Tuesday in a NAC Quarterfinals win over Castleton State College.  Chatman's 11 points were not best on the team, but his eight assists helped distribute the offense out to his Lynx teammates.

The NAC gave Stevens Honorable Mention honors as he averaged 15.7 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 0.8 apg and totaled 24 steals and one block against the conference this year.

Some of his best performances came against NAC opponents.  In the early season victory over Becker, Stevens had 26 points on 10-of-16 from the floor including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.  Against Wheelock College, he had a similar effort in which he netted 28 points on 11-of-15 including three three-pointers.

Stevens' best stretch came in the past couple weeks while the Lynx were on a five-game win streak en route to a earning a first round home playoff game.  In those five games, Stevens was the most valuable player for the Lynx averaging 25.0 ppg and 6.4 rpg.

Lesley will be in action Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. against Husson College in the NAC Semifinals.  The winner of that match up will move on to face the winner of Elms College and Becker College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
