Lasell rides Crawford to victory over Lesley

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Jaime Crawford (Coral Springs, Fla.) felt right at home once again in Cambridge as he went for 29 points to lead his Lasers past the Lynx 79-72.  The 6'5" Junior has made it a habit of having his best games against Lesley in Cambridge.  Crawford is averaging 34 points per game at Lesley and only 21.5 points per game against Lesley on his own court.

Lesley's scoring was led by Joe Chatman (Boston, Mass.) who finished with team highs in points, 15, assists, five, and steals, four.  James Parker (Sandwich, Mass.), who hit on four of eight from deep added 14 points.  Stanley Chamblain (Everett, Mass.) had 11 points and Malcolm Andrews (Medford, Mass.) had 10 points and six rebounds.  Darren Swanson (Stanford, Conn.) who played in his Lesley debut had a team high eight rebounds.

Lasell was able to gain control of the game in the second half and they were able to hold on to capture their first win in school history against Lesley.

Lasell started the second half with a 39-33 lead and quickly watched it disappear against Lesley's fast paced offense.  Following a Crawford miss, Parker buried a three for the Lynx to bring them to within three.  Following another Crawford miss Chatman nailed a jump shot to bring Lesley to within one.  However that was as close as they would get.  Over the next six minutes Lasell went on a 12-4 run to bring the lead up to nine points.

Lesley would hang around the rest of the game and put themselves in a position to potentially win the game.  With 1:55 remaining in the game Chatman hit a pair of free throws to bring the Lynx to within three points.  Lasell quickly responded with a Jose Guitian (Miami, Fla.) jumper.  With 1:28 left in the game it was Chatman once again who hit back-to-back free throws to bring the Lynx to within three.  Dejavú struck as Guitian buried another jumper to put Lasell back up by five points.  That would do it for the Lynx as they could not finish the comeback.

With the loss Lesley falls to 6-8 overall and 3-4 in the North Atlantic Conference.  The Lynx look to get back to their winning ways when they host Becker College on Tuesday, January 16th at 8:30 pm.  For more information on the Lesley men's basketball team please go to their website.
