Lynx fall late to the Chargers, 9-8

New London, NH- The Lynx fell late to the Chargers of Colby Sawyer after a five run ninth lead to the defeat, with the final score of 9-8. 

 

Inside the Game:

  • An early double gave the Chargers a 1-0 lead. 
  • Lesley bounced back, scoring 4 in the third which was capped off by a Justin Dennett single to drive in James Brandon and Trevor Faison
  • An Adam Budorick sac fly drove in Jesus Moscat to extend the lead to 5-1. 
  • The Chargers began chipping away in the fifth, scoring twice along with a run then in the sixth to make the score 5-4. 
  • A Colby Jacobs triple drove home Budorick, making the score 6-4. 
  • An error made by the Chargers then allowed Jacobs to score, making the score 7-4. 
  • A Jake Samela single drove home an insurance run in the ninth to make the score 8-4. 
  • The bottom of the ninth was where things went downhill, with 5 walks and 3 hit by pitches driving in all 5 runs, as the Chargers pulled out the 9-8 victory. 

 

Lynx Highlights:

  • With 3 runs scored today, Adam Budorick now holds the record for most runs scored in a single season at 33. He also went 2-4 on the day with a RBI.
  • Jake Samela drove in 3, and with a hit today topped the 40 hit plateau for the season. 
  • Justin Dennett kept up the production, driving in two more runs in a 1-4 day at the plate. 
  • James Labombard continued a stellar freshman season, with a scoreless outing today marking his 6th straight without an earned run. 
  • Kolten Moyer also threw a shutout inning in relief while striking out 2, lowering his season ERA to 2.70.

The Lynx (12-20, 1-7) are back in action tomorrow, as they hit the road for a big conference doubleheader against the Pilgrims of NEC. First pitch is set for 1:30pm.
