Lynx Crush Colonels, 14-1, behind strong start from Watts

Milton, MA- The Lynx hopped out to an early lead on Wednesday en route to a blowout victory over the Colonels of Curry College, 14-1. 

 

Inside the Game:

  • The run parade started in the first, with the Lynx scoring 9 to start the game off. A key 3 RBI double off the bat of James Brandon drove in Adam Budorick, Christian McElroy and Andrew Gryniewicz to cap off the first. 
  • Lesley would tack on two more in the third, as a RBI single off the bat of Jake Samela along with a Justin Dennett sac fly extended the lead to 11-0.
  • Curry would push across their lone run of the game in the fourth on a RBI single. 
  • A Gryniewicz walk in the fifth forced home Dennett to make the lead 12-1. 
  • McElroy would then have a sac fly in the 5th and 7th innings, driving in two more to make the lead extend to 14-1. 
  • Starter Logan Watts went 7 strong on the mound for the Lynx, striking out 3 while scattering 6 hits. 

 

Lynx Highlights:

  • James Brandon went 3-5 with a double on the day with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. His 3 hits today pushed him to 40 total hits on the season. 
  • Jake Samela went 3-6 with a double, driving in 3 while scoring once. 
  • Justin Dennett stayed hot at the plate, going 2-3 with a pair of runs driven in while also scoring twice. 
  • Andrew Gryniewicz went 2-4, driving in one while also scoring once. 
  • Logan Watts had himself a day on the mound, setting a new career high in innings pitched (7). In those 7 innings, Watts struck out 3 and only allowed 1 run to score to pick up his second win on the mound. 

 

Up Next:

The Lynx (12-19, 1-7) will be back in action on the road tomorrow, April 27th to take on Colby-Sawyer. First pitch is set for 3pm.
