Lynx sweep double header against UMaine-Presque Isle behind dominant pitching

Lexington, MA- The Lynx take both ends of the Sunday double header against the Owls of UMPI, 11-2 and 10-1, behind the dominant pitching efforts of Dylan Langston and Brian Jacobus. The pair of victories push the Lynx to 8-9 on the year. 

 

Inside Game 1:

  • The Lynx built a strong lead through the first three innings, as hits from Adam Budorick, Trevor Faison, Drew Gryniewicz and Christain McElroy combined to drive in five. 
  • From there, the Lynx continued to tack on in the fourth, with singles from James Brandon and Jake Samela to make the lead 7-0.
  • An inning later, another RBI single for Adam Budorick along with a home run from Colby Jacobs made the lead 11-0.
  • The start given by Dylan Langston helped keep the Owls down through 4, with Langston recording 3 strikeouts over 4 innings of work. 
  • The lone runs on the game for the Owls came by way of a two-run home run for Timothy Burns in the sixth inning.
  • Nate Trudnich came on in the seventh to shut the door on the Owls, with a shutout inning to finish the game.

 

Inside Game 2:

  • The strong start from Brian Jacobus helped lead the way for the Lynx, striking out 8 over his 6 innings of work.
  • Cal Caruso drove across the first run of the game for the Lynx, singling to right field to bring in Justin Dennett
  • The Lynx tacked on the following inning, with Dennett scoring again on a wild pitch. 
  • In the fourth inning, a triple from Colin McCarthy drove in the thrid run of the game. 
  • The top half of the fifth was showed the lone run of the game for the Owls, with a run scoring by way of a wild pitch. 
  • The Lynx pulled away in the bottom half of the sixth, with a double from Colby Jacobs and a home run by James Brandon helping to secure the win. 

 

Lynx Highlights:

  • Sophomore Colby Jacobs went 2-5 on the day with a double and home run.
  • Junior Adam Budorick helped lead the offense from the leadoff spot, going 5-8 with a triple with 4 runs driven in.
  • Freshman Jake Samela went 3-4 with a run batted in. 
  • Sophomore Justin Dennett went 4-8 with 2 runs scored. 
  • Junior James Brandon recorded his first home run on the year on the way to a 3-7 day at the plate with 4 runs driven in. 

 

Up Next:

The Lynx (8-9, 0-1) will look to move back to .500 on the year on the road against Dean College. First pitch is set for 3:30pm.
