Lynx Swept By Pilgrims to Finish Regular Season

GAME OVERVIEW:

LEXINGTON, MA. – The Lesley Lynx Baseball team were swept by the New England College Pilgrims in a conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, losing game one 6-1 and game two 5-2. The Lynx drop to 14-23-1 overall and 1-10-1 in the NECC, while the Pilgrims advance to 20-13 overall and 8-3 in the conference.

INSIDE GAME 1:

  • The Pilgrims got out ahead quickly in the second inning, scoring four runs on four hits and two walks. Devin Parsons got the scoring started with a double to drive in JD Normand and Sylvain Audet followed him with a double of his own to drive in two runs. Audet would come in to score later on a sacrifice fly by Brady Philibott.
  • Audet added another run for the Pilgrims in the sixth inning, this time singling to drive in Parsons. He would then steal second and reach third on a wild pitch, allowing him to score easily on a double by Tyler Gendron.
  • The Lynx got their first and only run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a pick-off attempt by Pilgrims starter Shaun Cormier. He threw over to first attempting to catch Dylan McDonald sleeping, but the play allowed Ronnie James to come home from third.
  • Cormier was great for NEC, allowing only five hits and recording seven strikeouts in a complete game. Dylan Langston took the loss for Lesley, allowing five runs in five innings. Patrick Teasdale and Nathan Lyons each threw a scoreless inning of relief.

INSIDE GAME 2:

  • NEC was out on top early once again, with Luca Giallongo coming into score on a ball crushed to left center by JD Normand. Normand tried to stretch a triple into an inside-the-park home run, but was thrown out at the plate on a relay by Andrew Gryniewicz from Adam Budorick.
  • Colby Jacobs put the Lynx on top for the first time all day in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run single to right field to drive in Cal Caruso and James Brandon. The Pilgrims would tie the game in the next inning on an error by Caruso and a double by Normand.
  • The Pilgrims would add an insurance run in each of the fourth and fifth innings; Giallongo put up the fourth inning run with an RBI single and Normand doubled again to drive in Michael Ciccotelli in the fifth.
  • Alex Perez earned his sixth win of the season, allowing only two hits and two runs while striking out six batters. Corey O'Day earned his sixth save of the year with a scoreless seventh inning.
