Lynx Drop Game to Falcons 6-4

GAME OVERVIEW:

FITCHBURG, MA. – The Lesley Lynx Baseball team had their four game winning streak snapped by the Fitchburg State Falcons, losing 6-4 on Tuesday afternoon. The Lynx fall to 13-15 on the season, while Fitchburg State advances to 5-19.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Lynx scored the first two runs of the game on two productive outs in the fourth and fifth inning. Andrew Gryniewicz came across to score on a sacrifice fly by Matthew Ceruti in the fourth, while Adam Budorick scored on a groundout by Ronnie James in the fifth.
  • Fitchburg ended up with all they would need after a five-run bottom of the fifth inning that knocked Lynx starter Dylan Langston out of the game. Errors were an issue in the inning for Lesley, as the first two runs came across after a base hit by Connor Morehouse that was bobbled in right field. Vincent Eramo followed that up with a triple and then Christopher Masta drove him in by reaching on an error by James Brandon at third base.
  • The Falcons added one more insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, with Jaime Velez scoring on a wild pitch. Lesley scored two more runs in the top of the seventh, again on productive outs with Brandon and James each driving in a run with a groundout to second base. It would not be enough for a comeback, as Jovanni Merced shut them down for his first save of the year.
