GAME OVERVIEW:

TAUNTON, MA. – The Lesley Lynx Baseball team were swept by the Eastern Nazarene Lions in their first NECC doubleheader of the season, dropping a close first game 2-1 and falling 14-6 in five innings in the second game. The Lynx fall to 7-10 overall this season and 0-2 in conference play, while the Lions advance to 11-7 and 2-0 in the NECC.

INSIDE GAME 1:

• Eastern Nazarene picked up all they would need out of the gate in the first game, scoring their only two runs of the game. Jaime Roldan drove in Shane McNamara with a base hit that moved Henrhy Lara up to second, with Lara then coming into score on a single by Frank Landeiro.
• The Lynx got one of their own in the top of the third inning, but it would be the only run they could muster. Andrew Gryniewicz picked up his ninth RBI of the season on a base hit to score Justin Dennett.
• Outside of the first inning, Lynx starter Evan Swift had a great outing. He allowed only four more hits to the Lions over his complete game effort, but he was bested by a slightly stronger outing by Spencer Boynton. Boynton allowed five hits, three of them to Dennett, while striking out ten batters to pick up his fourth win of the season.

INSIDE GAME 2:

• The day's second game saw more offensive fireworks, but was cut short as rain rolled in. It was another strong strat for the Lions, as they scored nine runs off of Lynx starter Jonathan Truscott. McNamara got things going with a three-run homer, followed shortly by a two run double by Landeiro. Landeiro then scored on a fielder's choice, with Steven Pesce and Tyler Bean delivered RBI singles to knock Truscott out of the game after recording a single out.
• Lesley got three of their own quickly in the top of the second, thanks to three consecutive RBI singles by Ian Dempsey, Adam Budorick, and Dennett. They added two more in the top of the third to chip into the lead, courtesy of an RBI double by Ian Spillane and a single by Colby Jacobs to send Spillane home.
• ENC bolstered their lead with five more runs over the next two innings, capitalized by a two-run homer by Landeiro to bring his RBI total in the game to four.
• Despite the losses, Dennett had a strong day for the Lynx. The freshman shortstop went 6-for-8 over the two games with an RBI and two runs scored.
