GAME OVERVIEW:

FLEMINGTON, NJ. – The Lesley Lynx Baseball team opened their season by sweeping a doubleheader against the Valley Forge Patriots on Saturday afternoon. The Lynx won Game 1 1-0 in 10 innings and took Game 2 10-2. Lesley opens up at 2-0, while Valley Forge falls to 0-2 to begin the season.

INSIDE GAME 1:

• Pitching had the spotlight in the first game of the day, which went into the tenth inning with no score. Dylan Langston put on a masterclass in his Lynx debut, going eight innings and allowing only two hits and no walks while striking out fourteen. While not as dominant, Kasey Baumgart and Stephen Brice combined for nine shutout innings for Valley Forge.
• The Lynx had plenty of chances, collecting ten hits and drawing nine walks, but it was not until the top of the tenth that they were able to get on the board. Tyler Washington led off the tenth with a double and moved over to third on a single by Christian Rapoza. He then scored on a passed ball for the only run the Lynx would need.
• Rapoza, who came in in the top of the ninth to relieve Langston after 88 pitches, picked up the win after two scoreless innings with no hits and two strikeouts. Andruw Cook took the loss after allowing the single run in extras. 

INSIDE GAME 2:

• After the earlier pitching dominance, Lesley broke out the bats in this one. James Brandon got things going in a four-run second inning with an RBI double, then came around to score on a single by Langston, who was DHing in the second game.
• The Lynx held a 9-0 lead after three innings, thanks in large part to leadoff hitter Adam Budorick. Budorick drove in one run in the second inning and then sent Brandon and Andrew Gryniewicz home with a single in the second inning. He finished the game 3-for-5 with four RBI, while Justin Dennett finished 3-for-4 with two runs driven in. Gryniewicz ended up coming across to score three times after going 4-for-4 from the eighth spot in the order.
• Jacob Nemergut picked up his first collegiate win after allowing only one run in five innings, striking out four batters. Nathan Lyons followed him up with a one run inning and Jonathan Truscott finished things up with a scoreless inning of his own.
