Fairchild Lifts Lynx Over Chargers

GAME OVERVIEW:

Northborough, Mass- The Lynx won their second home game of the season 7-5 in a non-conference matchup against the Colby-Sawyer Chargers. With the win, Lesley improves to 6-4 overall while Colby slips to 2-9.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Chargers started off the scoring in the top of the 1st with an RBI single from Tim Unczur. The Chargers added another run with a RBI single from Joey Fenuccio in the top of the third to take an early 2-0 lead.
  • In the bottom of the third Sophomore Brendan Fairchild hit his first collegiate home run to drive in Junior Nicholas Ferragine and Senior Justin Clark to give the Lynx a 3-2 lead. The Lynx added on another run later in the inning with an RBI single from Junior Matt Bavaro.
  • The final 3 runs for the Lynx came in the bottom of the 5th inning. Junior Ryan Pumphret hit an RBI double to drive in Freshmen Christopher Papallo and Fairchild. Pumphret later scored when Sophomore Matthew Warner made it to 1st on an error from the 3rd basemen.
  • The Chargers were able to add an additional run in the top of 8th with an RBI single from Andrew Pratt, to make it 7-3 in favor of Lesley.
  • The Chargers stayed alive in the top of the ninth earning bases loaded with no outs.  Unczur hit an RBI single to drive in Brendan Thurber and the following batter walked to make it 7-5 with one out.
  • Junior Daniel O'Donnell took the mound with one out and the bases loaded.  He struck out the only 2 batters he faced clenching the Lynx victory 7-5 and his first save of the season.

  • Brendan Fairchild lead the offense going 3-4 with 3 RBI's and 1 home run.
  • Christopher Papallo had 2 doubles and Ryan Pumphret had 1 with 2 RBI's.
  • Junior Nick DeGrenier is credited with the win making him 1-1, pitching 4 innings and allowing 3 hits while striking out 2 batters.
  • Junior Daniel O'Donnell gets his first save of the season pitching two-third innings and striking out 2 batters.
  • The Chargers were lead by Tim Unczur who went 3-5 with 2 RBI's. Ryan Glendye lands his 2nd loss of the season pitching 4 innings and allowing 10 hits and 7 earned runs.
