Lynx Split Again in Florida

GAME OVERVIEW:  

Aubrundale, FL--The Lesley baseball team improve to 4-3 overall with a split against Stockton University Thursday March 15th.  The Lynx bats came alive in the opening game tallying 13 hits for a 10-1 win.  The second game saw different action as the offense could only muster 2 hits in the game as they dropped the final game 5-2.  

GAME 1-INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • After a scoreless first, Lesley jumped to a 6-0 lead halfway through the second inning.  With two outs and a runner on third, Brendan Fairchild singled to spark a two out rally.  Singles by Michael Fiorelli, Vincent Taliercio, and Christopher Papallo scored 3 more runs for Lesley. Matthew Warner then ripped a double to plate two more Lynx runners for the early 6-0 lead.
  • In the bottom frame, Stockton worked their way to bases loaded with no outs, but a grounder to short stop translated into huge double play only allowing 1 run to score. 
  • Lesley tacked on two more runs in the 5th after a two-run blast from Ryan Pumphret.  Big bats from Fairchild and Nicholas Ferragine scored two more runs in the final inning to give the Lynx the 10-1 victory.

GAME 2-INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • Stockton jumped on board in the top of the first after a two-out bases loaded single from Joe Cashman.  Stockton ace Ryan Hughes retired the first six batters in the Lynx line up, while the offense tacked on two more runs in the top of the third to give Stockton a 3-0 lead. 
  • Jacob Cervantes lead off the bottom frame with a single and then later scored to close the gap 3-1.
  • Stockton came right back scoring two more runs in the top of the fourth to extend their lead 5-1.  Lesley added one more in the bottom frame but it wasn't enough for ace Hughes to shut down the Lynx offense.

QUICK STATS:

  • Stockton out hit the Lynx 13-2, and Hughes struck out 12 in the complete game victory.
  • Matthew Bavaro and Jacob Cervantes recorded the lone hits to the Lynx.
