Bulldog Offense Overpowers Lynx

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Lesley University baseball team was shut-out by non-conference Dean College, 10-0, Wednesday afternoon. The Lynx drop to 12-8 on the season while the Bulldogs improve to 9-12.

Dean wasted little time jumping on first year right-hander Andrew Thomas (Arlington, Mass.), who was making just his second start of his collegiate career, for four runs in two innings. The Bulldogs continued to pile on the runs against Lynx relievers scoring six runs over the next two innings to take a 10-0 lead after four.

It was more than enough for Dean first year right-hander Jose Quiroz who kept the Lynx off the scoreboard tossing seven innings while striking out six to earn his first win of the year. Christian Ponce and Victor Paiva, Jr. came on in relief and each tossed one complete inning while fanning two.

After a rocky first few innings of the ballgame, the Lynx bullpen was strong in the later innings. First year right-hander Riley Golden (Irvine, Calif.), junior right-hander Jeff Heinz (Portsmouth, N.H.), J.P. Agiorgousis (Hanscom AFB, Mass.) and Jacob Cervantes (Oxnard, Calif.) each threw an inning and recorded one strikeout.

Before heading to the hill, Agiorgousis also led the Lynx offense going two-for-four at the dish from the middle of the order. First year backstop Brendan Fairchild (Temecula, Calif.) registered the lone Lynx extra base-hit while sophomore second baseman Vincent Taliercio (Valley Stream, N.H.) recorded a steal.

The Lynx return to New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action this weekend when they host Southern Vermont College for a three-game series in Haverhill, Mass. beginning Friday April 14th at 7:00 p.m.
