Men's and Women's Soccer Earn NSCAA Team Academic Award

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has recognized both the 2013 men’s and women’s soccer programs for their hard work in the classroom as the teams earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2013-14 academic year. The award is given to programs that have a combined 3.0 or higher grade point average throughout the academic year.

A total of 861 soccer programs (279 men’s teams, 582 women team’s) across the country received the award while Lesley was one of only 188 schools that received the award on both the men’s and women’s side. This year marks the fourth time the men’s team has earned the distinction while the women’s side has earned the award for the 12th time in the past thirteen season.

“Once again we are excited to have both our soccer programs receive NSCAA Team Academic awards,” said Lynx Director of Soccer Operations Paul Vasconcelos. “Our programs strive for success in the classroom and on the field and this award is a confirmation of that.”

The 2013 men’s team received their fourth bid to the ECAC Tournament and finished the year with a 9-9-2 mark while compiling a 3.0 GPA.

The 2013 women’s team set a program record with 18 wins as they captured their second straight NECC Championship and trip to the NCAA Tournament while posting a 3.47 GPA.
