Lynx edged by second-place Becker, 5-4

WORCESTER, MA -- With a chance to gain ground on second-place Becker College, Lesley fell 5-4 on the road in New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis play Friday afternoon.

For Lesley, Brenna Donovan was the only player who recorded singles and doubles victories. The sophomore knocked off Courtney Johnson 6-0, 6-2 and teamed with classmate Nicole Smith to get the best of Johnson and Lianna Woodbury by an 8-2 count. 

Lynx junior Hagar Memlies remained flawless in her Lesley career, improving to a perfect 6-0 with a sixth singles win over Woodbury, 7-6, 6-0. In second singles, Michelle Side disposed of Laura Mims, 6-0, 6-3, for the Lynx fourth point.

With the loss, Lesley drops to 4-3 (3-3 NECC), while the Hawks improve to 9-4 (5-1 NECC). 

After road league matches the last two evenings, Marty Morrissey's team returns to Cambridge for some home cooking against Mitchell College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
