GAME OVERVIEW:

CAMBRIDGE, MA. -- The Lesley Women's Soccer won their fourth straight NECC Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon, defeating the New England College Pilgrims 5-1. The Lynx finish with a 14-3-1 record and move on to the NCAA Tournament, while the Pilgrims close out their season at 7-10-1.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

• The Pilgrims defense held strong early on, limiting the Lynx to only four shots in the first twenty-five minutes of the match. Claire Hounslow and Kerrie Larson each found the crossbar, but the Lynx could not score to start the game.
• Lesley broke through with the first goal of the match in the 29th minute, when a deep shot by Calli Masters deflected off the crossbar and found its way to Chloe Kouyoumdjian. Koyoumdjian took a lefty shot from the left side to put her team up 1-0.
• The Lynx got a second goal, this time from Claire Hounslow, in the 38th minute. Hounslow was fouled on NEC's side of the field and Sacha Porter was able to deliver a perfect free kick for the assist. Hounslow was able to get the header over the arm of Pilgrims goalkeeper Emily Sashko.
• Lesley was quieted for the rest of the first half, but NEC was able to cut into the lead. After a foul in the box committed by Sophie Smurthwaite, Leeann Demirjian converted the penalty kick to bring the match to 2-1 going into half.
• Kerrie Larson picked up the Lynx's third goal of the match seven minutes into the second half. Macey Merlo's corner kick found itself uncontrolled and Larson was able to pick it up just outside the box. She sent a rocket into the left side of the goal to bring the Lesley lead to 3-1.
• Lesley was able to secure two more scores late in the match, with Emily Winkels picking up one on an assist by Abby Kalou and Kouyoumdjian sealing the championship with her second goal of the match in the final minute. Kouyoumdjian picked up a ball that got past the NEC defense and beat Sahsko to it, sending it into an open net for the brace.
• Larson, Hounslow, Kouyoumdjian, and Calli Masters were named to the NECC All-Tournament Team, with Masters earning MVP honors with a perfect physical performance on both halves of the field.
• Hounslow led the Lynx with ten shots, while Emma Rice and Demirjian each had one for the Pilgrims. Sashko saved thirteen of eighteen shots she saw, while Lynx goalkeeper Audrey Calhoun was one for two thanks to a strong defensive front.
