Kouyoumdjian Brace Leads Lynx over Fitchburg

GAME OVERVIEW:

CAMBRIDGE, MA. -- The Lesley Women's Soccer team shut out the Fitchburg State Falcons 3-0 on Tueday night. The Lynx advance to 7-3-1 on the season, while the Falcons fall to 0-9-1.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Lynx were on the attack early, notching 18 shots in the first half. They were aggressive against the Falcons defense and made goalkeeper Abaigael Gilman work, as she saved ten of eleven shots on net in the first forty-five. The one that got through was on a beautiful ball by Chloe Kouyoumdjian after Claire Hounslow found her on the right wing. Kouyoumdjian sent a strike over the goalie into the top left corner for a 1-0 lead.
  • Kouyoudmjian was involved in the second goal of the night as well, findin Juliana Rossini in the 67th minute. Kouyoumdjian sent a cross from the right corner after her and Rossini had both slipped through Falcons defenders and Rossini sent it home for her first goal of the season and first as a Lynx.
  • In the 69th minute, Kouyoumdjian picked up a nice second goal to complete the brace and put her team up 3-0. Rossini picked up an assist by sending the ball toward Kouyoumdjian, who was streaking across the box and tapped the ball into the net with the outside of her foot for her fifth goal of the season. Kouyoumdjian now sits in second place in the NECC this season in goals scored.
  • Lesley's freshman goalkeeper Lauren Lacy earned her first collegiate win, saving all three shots that came her way. Kouyoumdjian led the Lynx with seven shots, while Hannah Cravedi took three for the Falcons.
