THE LEAD –  The Lynx dropped to Mount Holyoke College in a nail biting 58-50 matchup last night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lesley put the first points of the game on the board with a jumper from Savannah Gravitt. The Lyons quickly followed and the two teams continued to go point-for-point for the majority of the first quarter. The Lyons pulled ahead with just a minute left, heading into the break with a 14-9 lead.
  • Lesley started the second chipping away at the Lyons lead, tying it up 20-20 with five minutes to go. Again, with a minute left in the period the Lyons put 4 points on the board back to back, finishing with a buzzer beater from Libby Harris to extend their lead to 29-22 going into halftime.
  • The first two minutes of the third went scoreless. The Lyons were able to find the net scoring the first points of the period. Lesley's offense turned up the heat and again began to chip away at the Lyons lead. A pair of free throw's from Hillary Berry with 4 minutes to go brought the Lynx within 1 point of the Lyons. Followed by a layup from Jordan Blair to give Lesley their first lead of the game. Both teams continued to go back and forth, ending the third period in a 42-42 tie.
  • 3 minutes into the fourth Lesley struck, taking an early lead. The Lyons responded and the two teams stayed within 5 points of each other for the entirety of the fourth. With a minute left in the game the Lyons pulled ahead after two Lesley fouls, clinching the win 58-50.

INSIDE THE NUMERS  

  • Saniyyah Philips led the Lynx with 16 points and 10 rebounds, earning another double-double on the season.
  • Alexandra Kerley also posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
