THE LEAD –  Lesley hosted UMPI in back to back conference matchups this weekend. UMPI ranked #3 in the NAC pre-season poll, walked away with two wins against #6 Lesley.  

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1

  • UMPI started the game with unparalleled momentum and immediately put up six unanswered points on the Lynx.
  • The Owls continued to dominate the remainder of the quarter, heading into the break with a 24-12 lead.
  • The Lynx continued to put points on the board but could not slow down the UMPI offense to take control of the match. Lesley headed into halftime trailing 45-24, looking to make a huge comeback in the second half of the contest.
  • In the first five minutes of the third quarter Lesley put up ten points, but UMPI continued to match them point for point keeping the lead within arm's length of the Lynx.
  • UMPI continued to dominate in the fourth quarter, eventually winning the match 84-53.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Alexandra Kerley led the Lynx with 12 points, seven rebounds, a steal and two blocks.
  • Savannah Stowers and Saniyyah Philips also contributed 12 points a piece.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2

  • UMPI once again pulled ahead of the Lynx early, amassing a 13-point lead by the end of the first quarter.
  • The UMPI offense continued to dominate the court, forcing the Lynx to rely on Kerley and Stowers in the paint for the majority of their points.  
  • Lesley returned to the court after halftime trailing the Owls 36-11.
  • Naya Sellas posted the first points of the third period for the Lynx, draining her first three-pointer of the season to give Lesley the momentum they were looking for.
  • The Lesley offense turned up the fire, posting 34 points in the second half of the match, but were unable to catch up to the Owls losing 73-45.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Stowers posted her first double-double of the season, recording 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Lynx.
  • Kerley followed, also posting a double-double with 14 points, and 10 rebounds.

The Lynx are back on the court Tuesday, as they hit the road and take on Emerson College in non-conference play.
