Kelsey Smith joined the Lesley University staff before the start of the 2022 campaign as Head Coach of the Softball program.

In her first season as a collegiate head coach, Smith guided the Lynx to the 2022 NECC Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. The squad posted 18 victories that included an eight-game winning streak to close the regular-season before sweeping the NECC field for the league crown. She coached the 2022 NECC Co-Player of the Year in Jordan Day that season, guiding Day to an NCAA Division-III best .571 batting average at the culmination of the regular-season.

To date, Smith has coached a total of four All-Conference players and a pair of All-Sportsmanship representives from Lesley.

Smith attended Bentley University, where she was a four-year starting pitcher for the softball team and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Finance in 2017. Over her career she made 59 appearances in the circle, recording just shy of 200 innings pitched with a 3.51 ERA, 152 strikeouts and 15 victories. Smith ranks eighth all-time in the pitching category for winning percentage and is just outside the Top 10 in career K's . She served as a team captain her senior year and over her career made six appearances on the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll, highlighted by a pair of complete-game shutouts during her junior and senior campaigns, both in wins vs. Saint Michael's College. She was also on the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll list all eight semester of her collegiate career. 

Over the past few years, Smith has been a showcase travel head coach for the Northeast Hurricanes and New England Fusion softball organizations. Her travel teams have posted winning records for the past several years and have also placed in multiple showcase tournaments. She has continued to coach with the Fusion in her free time.
